1. Information We Collect
We collect information you give us, information created as you use Kyndbook, and limited technical information. Depending on the features you use, this may include:
- Account information such as your name, email address and authentication details (including where you sign in with a third-party provider such as Google).
- Course materials and files you upload, such as lecture slides, notes, documents, past questions and links to videos.
- Study plans, learning preferences and the settings you choose in your Study Spaces.
- Study progress and activity, such as lessons started or completed, practice answers, review history and streaks.
- Content you submit to AI features, including questions you ask Bliss AI and the material selected as context for a request.
- Payment and transaction information necessary to process purchases. Card details are entered with our payment processor, not stored by Kyndbook; we keep records such as plan, amount, status and transaction references.
- Technical and usage information such as browser type, device, IP address, approximate connection quality and error diagnostics, where this is generated in the course of providing the service.
- Communications you send to us, such as support requests and feedback.
We do not ask you for sensitive personal information, and you should not upload material containing personal data about other people unless you are permitted to do so.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide, operate and maintain Kyndbook and your account.
- To build and update personalized study plans and recommendations.
- To analyse the course materials you upload so they can be used in your Study Space.
- To generate summaries, flashcards, practice questions, explanations, audio lessons and other learning content.
- To provide AI-powered features such as Bliss AI and academic work assistance.
- To keep a record of your academic progress and learning history across devices.
- To process payments, subscriptions, plan limits and renewals.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To improve the reliability, security and performance of the platform.
- To detect, investigate and prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorised use and security incidents.
- To send you important service communications, and reminders you have chosen to receive (such as exam countdowns or study nudges). You can turn optional reminders off.
3. AI and Uploaded Content
Kyndbook is built around AI. When you upload course materials or use an AI feature, the relevant content and your prompt are processed by Kyndbook and by the third-party AI infrastructure we use to produce the result you asked for. Extracted text and generated results may be stored in your account so that your Study Space, lessons and saved work remain available and do not need to be regenerated each time.
We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to build public models of our own. We do not control the internal practices of our AI providers beyond the terms and configuration we use with them, and we do not claim that your content is used to train their models.
AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. It is a learning aid and should be verified against your course materials and other authoritative sources.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on third-party providers to operate Kyndbook. Each provider receives only the information needed for its role:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage for your account, materials and study data.
- Google services — used for sign-in where you choose it, and for AI model infrastructure that powers Kyndbook's learning features.
- Paystack — payment processing for paid plans.
- Resend, via our email infrastructure — sending transactional email such as verification, password resets and reminders.
We may add or change providers as the platform evolves, and will keep this section up to date.
5. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, authenticated access, database-level access rules that restrict your data to your own account, and server-side handling of sensitive keys. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorised access will never occur. Please keep your password private and tell us if you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else.
6. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements and maintain legitimate business records. You can delete individual materials and Study Spaces at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Request deletion of your information and account.
- Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where our processing relies on consent, such as optional reminder emails.
- Contact us with any privacy concern or complaint.
To exercise a right, email us at support@kyndbook.com. Some information may need to be retained where the law requires it or where it is reasonably necessary for legitimate purposes such as transaction records.
8. Children's Privacy
Kyndbook is built for university and tertiary students and is intended for people who are legally able to use the service under the law that applies to them. It is not designed for children. Do not submit personal information belonging to a child in breach of applicable privacy law. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Kyndbook develops or as legal requirements change. When changes are material, we will communicate them appropriately, for example in the app or by email, and we will update the effective date above.
